I have tried bungie cords, rope, tie straps, string and rubber bands. I lost stuff.  I finally tried this cargo net and discovered that by using two of these nets my stuff stays right where I put it. No matter how irregular the shape is.  As far as I'm concerned this is the only way to secure gear to your bike.
